 | In the spring, Make Up For Ever and Sephora held a Lash Pimpin' Contest, calling on Beauty Insiders to create the fiercest flutter, ever. Behold the winning wink! "I knew I wanted to create a wonderland, a fantasy world," says Oxana Sandoval, who created this pimped-out look and consequently won the grand-prize trip to the Make Up For Ever Academy in Paris. "Feathers to me represent joy, happiness, fun, and excitement. By pairing them with rhinestones, I was able to create a 'dream' eyelash." Here, Oxana shares how she fashioned her visionary fringe. Now, quit staring and start pimpin'! – Mari Tzikas

STEP 1: FEATHERS
"My first task was to find colorful feathers that varied in size. I found them at a craft store," says Oxana. Using one of the white, staggered Make Up For Ever Strip Eyelashes (Ref 25149) as a base, Oxana super glued the feathers along the top of the strip at the roots—place the shorter feathers on the inner edge and the longest at the outer corner. Tweezers will make positioning a breeze. For the bottom lashes, Oxana cut the other white false eyelash into three pieces of varying lengths.
Tip: When applying the colored feathers, use a safety pin to precisely dot on a small amount of glue and then slightly overlap the edges for a uniform progression.

STEP 2: RHINESTONES
"I chose white rhinestones, because the feathers were already so colorful. I didn?t want to overdo it," says Oxana. Using tweezers and eyelash glue (included in the Make Up For Ever lashes), she applied rhinestones along the longest fronds of the white falsies. If you don't have rhinestones, try Make Up For Ever Graphic Glitter.
Tip: To really trick your lids out, add rhinestones to the back of the feathers, so you sparkle from a bird's eye view, too!

STEP 3: FINISHING TOUCHES
"When I first glued all the feathers together, they were straight without any curves. I thought about using a curling iron, but it was too big," Oxana admits. "Instead, I found a small screwdriver, heated it over the hot stove for a minute, and went over the back side of the feathers. They curled very easily." (She's crafty!) Before applying the finished fringe, she lightly rimmed her top and bottom lids with Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Glimmer in True Gold. The entire project took Oxana about three hours, but it was well worth it! "I feel very honored to have my lash design chosen as the winner. I?ll see you in Paris!"
Tip: You can also bend and style feathers and false lashes by heating an eyelash curler with a blowdryer and strategically squeezing to lift and wing-out the fringe.
